Computer-Aided Designer (CAD) – Refrigeration CAD Designer

 
Location : Chino, CA 91710
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation : $65,000 - $85,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)

GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position provides CAD support by generating overall layouts, drawings, and schematics for refrigeration design-build and consulting engineering projects. A key focus of this role is creating detailed CAD designs for commercial refrigeration systems for grocery stores and industrial cold storage facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides accurate and complete refrigeration construction drawings, including designs for commercial grocery stores and industrial cold storage facilities, in a timely and efficient manner to ensure maximum construction department efficiency. 
• Develops detailed CAD layouts and schematics for refrigeration systems, ensuring designs meet industry standards and project-specific requirements.
• Coordinates projects with engineers and team members to determine project priorities and ensure deadlines are achieved. 
• Collaborate with design teams from other disciplines to ensure projects are fully coordinated. 
• Enhances department efficiency by improving drafting standards, documentation, and overall workflow, while maintaining information accuracy and timeliness. 
• Stays informed of industry trends and engages in continual learning to expand knowledge of refrigeration systems and CAD design applications. 
• Performs other related duties and projects assigned by management. 
• Reads and interprets detailed diagrams and drawings to produce construction and permit application drawings. 
• Supports design and engineering work with guidance from an engineer. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Proficiency in computer programs, including Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
• Comprehensive understanding of refrigeration system terminology and operation, particularly for commercial grocery stores and industrial cold storage facilities. 
• Familiarity with refrigeration system components, their placement in systems, and their integration within building layouts. 
• Ability to design refrigeration fixture floor plans, including refrigerated case and evaporator coil layouts, with minimal guidance. 
• Capable of generating electrical requirement sheets based on refrigeration schedules or engineering direction.
• Strong ability to communicate with co-workers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. 
• Ability to work with general supervision and complete tasks efficiently and timely. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• AS degree or equivalent, CAD Certificate required. 
• Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in CAD design for refrigeration systems, with specific experience in grocery store and industrial cold storage applications. 
• Experience preparing refrigeration piping plans, plumbing piping plans, and condensate drain placements with minimal guidance. 
• Proven experience in laying out refrigeration equipment in equipment rooms and on roofs.
